Who We Are

Gbagura is one of the four quarters in Abeokuta. It is the homestead of the late Bashorun MKO Abiola.

The official title of the King of Gbagura is Agura of Gbagura. Gbagura has two ruling houses namely Egiri and Jiboso ruling houses.

The status of Agura of Gbagura as a major Oba in Egba Traditional council and Ogun state Council of Obas has been well established. His Royal Majesty, the Agura of Gbagura still retains his status as a prescribed authority that can honor Gbagura Sons and Daughters as well as other Egbas and Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora with Chieftaincy titles.

The Ologun lineage is headed by the Jaguna, while Ogboni is headed by Oluwo. The Parakoyi is headed by the Erelu Lineage (Female Chiefs).

The Ologun and the Olorogun were war chiefs. They deliberated on developmental matters and are supposed to advise the Obas on wars, local disputes and other matters inimical to the progress of the people.

The Ogbonis are supposed to be the elite ruling class, while advising Obas in all affairs of the community.

The Iyalode is the head of the Erelu Lineage.  Although there are other titles within the female linage, all matters relating to the female titles are under the Iyalode of all townships in Gbagura.
